Weimer's IWD2 Mods
IWD2
Ease-of-Use
The Ease-Of-Use mod is collection of useful modlets and minor changes that
make playing IWD2 more bearable.
Note: Some people regard many of these changes as cheats. All of
the components are optional and may be installed separately. Use your
own discretion. When you run the install utility you will be prompted to
confirm the installation of each feature individually.
- Bugfixes
- The Bastard Sword of Heroism is fixed to give a +3 attack bonus
(was +0).
- Phaen should drop Phaen's Ironshod Staff [11STAFPI.ITM] or the

- The Shambling Mound attacks [00CWSHM*.ITM] (both the normal one
and the druid shapechange one) were not casting the entangle spell
correctly (targets weren't getting the DEX penalty, etc.).

- Spanish Translation by Bhasbuto of Clan DLAN. Example:
-

IWD2
Bonus Merchant
- French Translation by "J.R.R. Tolkien".
Example:
-
- Spanish Translation by Bhasbuto of Clan DLAN. Example:
-
simple y llanamente.
- German Translation by Marco Ivezic. Example:
-
This mod adds Ribald Barterman as a bonus merchant to IWD2. He sells
equipment from BG2 in the same way that BG2 bonus merchants sell equipment
from PST or IWD. The equipment is typically half-decent and vastly
overpriced. Ribald appears in the Gallaway Trading Post and Conway's
Smithy.

Undead
Targos Mod
The Undead Targos Mod changes the opening area in IWD2.
The Town of Targos is now attacked by undead monsters (and some minor
goblins). It is still designed for Level 1 Parties, but it is no longer a
walk in the park. In addition, this mod allows you to complete the Targos
fedex quests more rapidly. It's kinda light on innovative plot devices,
but I was just playing around. Basically, this will make your next run
through the otherwise-boring tutorial chapter slightly more exciting.
In addition, it also includes a component that makes the final
confrontation with Torak slightly more difficult (i.e., it gives Torak some
half-orc spellcasters that work in concert to back him up).
- Spanish Translation by
The_Exorcist of Clan DLAN.
Example:
-
- French Translation by Graoumf.
Example:
-

Non-Weimer
IWD2 Mods
This section provides links to some IWD2 mods written by other authors.
- The New Starting Parties mod by TheBlackRose. This mod adds
additional pre-made parties to IWD2 so that players have more choices at
the start of the game. See below for installation information.
-
The Subraces pack is
described by its author, Tioma: I just want to test my idea about a full
implementation of any number of subraces. The beta1 version incorporates
sun and wood elves into the game. Before starting a new game you should
choose up to 6 subraces (necessary for your current party) among humans,
aasimars, tieflings, moon elves, drows, wild elves, sun elves and wood
elves (all other subraces will remain the same atm). You can change subrace
settings in different games so this is equivalent to a full implementation
of subraces. You can pick up ammo belts and bottomlmess bags while you are
there.
-
A Cleric Domains mod is
also available.

Installing These Mods

- The instructions are the same for all of the mods listed here. You
don't need to install all of them: just pick the mods you want.
- These mods work with or without the latest official IWD2
patch (currently 2.01). However, it is a good policy to install the
official patch anyway. Install the official patch before you install
any mods.
- These mods works with (or without) all
other WeiDU mods.
See the Solaufein installation
instructions for details.
- Thes mods do not require IEEP or any other

-
Download the Undead Targos Mod (version v6, size is 339K)
-
the New Starting Parties Mod v1 (self-extracting EXE, 246K).
-
The EXE file above is a WinRAR self-extracting archive. Run it, and in the
Install to field put your IWD2 directory. That is normally:
C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Icewind Dale II
If you do not like self-extracting EXEs, you can get a normal RAR version.
- Run the newly-extracted Setup-Mod.EXE program that you
will now find in your IWD2 directory. Choose your language and then choose
which components to install. You may uninstall any or all of them later.
- You may run Setup-Mod.EXE again to uninstall any
component that you have already installed.
Comments on these IWD2 Mods:
- I dunno how Weimer did it... but somehow Undead Targos is probably
the most balanced, 'fairest' upgrade-the-baddies Mod I've ever used.
Whether it's that ID2 is naturally more balanced being 3rd Ed, or that it's
easy to balance because it's the start of the game, or some inspired
judgement on Wes' part, I dunno... but I sweated through Ascension and I
ground my teeth at Tactics... but I enjoyed Undead Targos. Kudos, Wes.
- Congratulations on the Item list... it is the best support site for
my IWD II campaign.
- THANK YOU for the cool mods.
- First of all I am amazed that you were able to do this
- I would like to thank you for the fine work you did with the
Ease-Of-Use Mod. It is simply brilliant.
- I downloaded your mods and LOVE them.
- Recently [I have enjoyed the] Ease-of-use Mod for IWD2 - especially
the ease of installing (and uninstalling) of induvidial components - as I
don't use all of them and have uninstalled one after finding that it made
the game a little too easy. :-)
- thanks alot for the work you put into this game, and for
successfully bringing the game to levels of pleasure it could not have
achieved on its own =)
- Your mod's have added a whole new dimension of enjoyment to the game.
Appreciated.
- You rock!! Party on Wayne!! (In regards to Icewind Dale II mod's)
- I'm loving most of the changes, by the way!
- I found your downloads online and put them to use. They are
absolutely brilliant!!! I don't know how you did it and quite frankly I'd
rather not know. The not knowing makes it more fun.
- your mods are what have made I.E. games the edge-of-the-seat stuff
it's supposed to be...brilliant work (specially IWD2...all the mods rule)
- Just thought I'd let you know I think the mods you've made are
great. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work. :)
- Thanks for the great work you have done with these modifications,
especially the Undead Targos Mod, it made the beginning game far more
interesting playing it that way.
- Anyway, great work on IWD2, I really love
the installation program and the rest of it.
- Thank you for your mods on IWD2. My friends and I have been
using some of them and found them as excellent in this game as
they were BG2. We have especially liked the fact that they work
so well together so we have been able to use the more balanced
parts and leave out the most unbalancing parts.
- I'm using some of your Icewind 2 mods and your work is great.
- Thanks for all the fun you've provided with this stuff. Keep up the
good work!
- You are the best thing to happen to ID2. Your mod pack makes so much
sense and improve the game tremendously. I appreciate all your hard work in
coming out with it. I should have spotted your pack before starting my
current second game, in which i've been squatting my characters at low
levels.
- He has made a number of Mods for [IWD2] and they work great! Highly
recommended! I have the "ease of use" mod and, boy, does it make the game a
lot more enjoyable. ... I was getting
ready to shelve the game because it took too much time to control
inventory and other such useless stuff.
- I cannot imagine how I can ever again play Infinity Engine Games
without the 'Unlimited Stacking' option :)
- I have your mods for IW2 and think the gameplay is definitely
improving
- The Targos Mod I love. I didn't like that goblin bashing the first
time I played. I felt sorry for the sappers. I don't mind bashing undead.
Dead should be dead.
- I just played Undead Targos and Tougher Torak, with one of the
prebuilt
parties that comes with IWD2. It was difficult and a lot of fun. Just
wanted to say thank you for making the mod.
