First of all, let me say that I'm floored. Absolutely floored. Of the
BG2 romances, male and female, he's the only one I'd actually date. :-)
... Anyway, one of the things that absolutely amazed me -- sent shivers
down my spine -- was the dialogue with the Shelley poetry and Solaufein's
dreams of evil. Whoa. I found it horrifying and rather erotic.
just wanted to say that i have played through this mod in its entirety and
IT IS EXCELLENT! thank you weimer for making this mod it shows all the hard
work you have put into it!
Okay first things first, not second, your mods are superb, Sola
deserves to be in the original game, and should be acknowledged by Bioware
officially, and Greenwood and Salvatore should write books about them...
I am far more interested in plumbing the depths of the characters in my
party than anything else. This is where Solaufein really shines. Wes has
gone to extrordinary effort to write dialogue for a whole host of
contingencies. Not to get too Anne-of-Green-Gables about it, but Sola
offers a great deal of scope for one's imagination.
I would like to let you know that I absolutely love the Solaufein Mod.
I have played through BG2 twice with 2 different versions of the Mod, and
this is probably the most interesting and romantic romance one can ever
experienced there. You totally outdid what Bioware had done. The dialogs,
the poems and the depth of Sola's character are just so amazing! I nearly
cry with what he said to the PC just before the ascension, and have been
thinking how anyone will want to leave him to become a god after that
speech :)
I want to tell you that you wrote great dialogs, and added lovely poems ( I
love Rimbaud and Wordsworth).
I'm writing to let you know that I love the Mod!! You must be a true
romantic at heart to write such good dialog. Seriously!
First of all, I have to say that the Solaufein mod KICKS ASS!!! I like the
way Sola is portrayed, he has a very distinct personality that is both
enigmatic and endearing, and of all the male romances in game, his is the
most intriguing. Thank you for giving me a perfect replacement for that
annoying Anomen (although, believe it or not, I keep him in my party
because Viconia turned lesbian and decided to ditch the group out of
jealousy). But that's ok.
Now I'm happily trudging about SoA with one of the coolest char's in the
game in my party!! =)
BTW, I finished Solaufein's romance, and I have to tell you again that's
great: dialogs, quests, items (I got the blade, even I would rather prefer
trying tha moonray...maybe next time I'll play it through..)
I just wanted to say that I think you did a great job with the Solaufein
romance.
First off, let me compliment you on a wonderful mod. I truly love it!
Yeah, working just fine. Fun too. Great job! :)
I found the MOD to be great. ... The banter is pretty good and the Eclipse
dialogue just great - a lot of work went into this and none was wasted. I
particularly liked Sola's book of surfacer poems - not in earlier versions
and a nice touch. It's the little effects that make it good.
I like the idea a lot. So far, it's seemed to be a good storyline too,
especially the surprise ambushes.
I do love the Sola dialogue. The poetry is well written.
Love his first convo with Minsc btw...I was sitting here laughing out loud
::grin::
I have really enjoy this mod. Sola rules.
I like the Sola Mod a lot. It has motivated me to actually play a
female character.
I recently installed your Solaufein mod, and I want to say I am truly
enjoying it. It is nice to engage with a male npc other than Anomen, and
the philosophy discussions are interesting. I also like the fact that
things build up somewhat slowly, which seems a bit more realistic.
First of all, thank you so much for this fantastic mod! Itīs
everything I dreamt about.
I've recently downloaded the mod and wanted to say it's excellent.
Very well written dialog.
Keep up the great work. This is the best mod by far!!!
The dark eclipse fight is realy cool and the dialog just rockz.
But [I'd like to] congratulate you on Solaufein. He's
the only male NPC I've ever liked - apart from a mild fondness for the late,
l-l-lamented Khalid.
I forgot, really good work with the mod, I loved every add-on.
Well I have to say that I have really enjoyed playing along with
Solaufein. I truly enjoyed his conversations. Thank you for giving us this
choice. I enjoyed Solaufein's reaction to the group being taken from him
at one point. It was great to see his concern for my character.
I really enjoyed the mod alot. The dialog was excellent and had me
thinking a lot. Very philosophic (sp?).
I've played through BG/TOB three times and decided it was time to
stop being so repetitive, but the Improved Tactical Encounters and Valen /
Solaufein mods have definitely made the game more interesting.
Heee, sorry about that, but between Kelsey, Solaufein and the other
updates that come with him, and now this Item Mod pack, I'm in love with
this game all over again.
I've been playing the Solaufein Mod for about a week now, and I love it. You did a great job with it.
My compliments on the Solaufein Module. I am well and truly
impressed.
Just a line to let you know that you have done an excellent job with
this mod. I'd like to thank you for this mod, and also to tell you that
Sola's romance has been the more mature and fulfilling so far. Keep up the
good work!
First, Thanks for all the great improvements! =D They are still making
me still want to play BG2 after all this time.
Finally, congratulations upon Sola's dialogue. I managed to see only a
very little of it (I am very curious to see him interact with Jan in the
future) but what I saw was excellent. And the "romance" seems very well
done.
First, I have to say Solaufein and WeiDU Ascension rock!
I absolutely adore Sola!
I LOVE YOUR SOLAUFEIN MOD - and of course the GREAT translation.
Sometimes its not easy to answer to Solaufeins questions :) GREAT
I'm enjoying the sola mod so much...
And i haven't reached sola yet! :)
Well, I've played solaufein, and valen, and both the use-of-
ease and the item-upgrade mods, and they all are very, very
good. I really thought: well, why didn't bioware add this
to bgii?
I dont want to play TOB (again) without having your really GREAT
Sola-Mod implemented in it. :(
Sola, I am quite pleased with your mod! Sola rocks! He's well
thought out as a character and his interactions and dialogue are nicely
written.
I think the mods that
you have come up with are great and very easy to install.
Sola mod is a treasure! Although I must admit I get a real
tickle out of the romance (girls were sadly neglected in the standard
game romance options), what I enjoy most about Solaufein is the
philosophical musings; obscure references to the Dutchman, and arguments
with Sarevok! I find myself wandering the group around, wasting time,
just to see what Sola will come up with next!
They're all WeiDU
mods, after all, and the "Wei-" prefix stands for quality, leadership,
proactiveness, a dynamic... ehm... prioritizing of the... well, you
get my point; marketspeak is just not my forte.
I'm always looking for a new opportunity to piss my pants. Solaufein
mod,
here I come.
I do so enjoy playing Sola, nice work.
Thank you ever so much for letting Solaufein loose! Anomen was
driving me
crazy (god, I hate that guy even if he's supposed to be good fighter) and I
was getting disappointed with the lack of romance options for female PCs.
Enough said that I am absolutely fascinated and enthralled by Sola :D Two
thumbs up!
It occurs to me that the replay value of BG 2 with all the major WeiDU
mods installed is through the roof. I honestly can't think of any
other game that even comes close. I've been playing this game for...
what, months now? And I'm sure to have at least half a dozen more runs
into it, even if no additional mods come out. If only the Infinity
engine had been a tad better (the scripting, especially) it would
already have been everything Neverwinter Nights promised but couldn't
make good on (if I am to believe most reviews). All the tools are
there; sure, it's not the point-and-drool affair Joe Blow dungeon
master would need, but the whole thing is customizable by now with a
minimum of overhead. Onwards!
One final thought that I'd like to add is that I am truly impressed
with the quality of the Sola mod. I can't speak for Kelsey (sp?) or
some ot the others, but I'd like to try them next time through. It
really does amaze me that you guys are able to crank out product that
is AT LEAST equal to what Black Isle put out. I feel guilty playing
these mods for free (they are free, right?), and I would like to say
THANK YOU for committing the time and effort to make these mods.
Right now I think Sola's just great as he is. Love the poetry.
SolaMod is great! Magnificent! Astounding! That's just the way I would
have done it. *grin* The conversations are logical and romantic enough.
Think how much time wasted with that Delryn bastard. Interparty banters are
very good as well!
I finished the Solaufein mod and I'm impressed. I imagine you had some
freedom with the character since there wasn't much major focus on his
personality originally. The scripts were well written and well thought
out. The philosophical point of view you had Solaufein take of the upper
world is something that you would expected of a guy who came from a
society like the Drow. You write dialog very well and, I will admit, I had
to read some of the talks a couple of times (I'm no philosopy major) but
that just forces the player to pay extra attention to what Solaufein has
to say. Exerting control over the player's attention...clever.
This is, hands down, the most enjoyable romance mod I've played out in the
game.
First of all thank you for all the great MODS on your site.
I want to thank you for all the fun that I've had from the
Solaufein module.
1st, let me say I absolutely LOVE this script and don't know why I've
played so long without it. It ought to be under the ease of use mod because
it has really taken the tedium out of my games(lengthy buff sessions) and
brought back the fun of which the game is all about. This is probably the
most important "ease of use" type download I have ever used! biggrin.gif
the eclipse fight was really awesome, took me three tries to get
through.
You just keep on surprising me, your mods have made my IE games a hell
of a lot more fun. Thanks, keep up the brilliant work.
I've just completed the battle with the Revenge Spiders and had to
tell you how much I love the Solaufein mod. Not only have you created an
intelligent, interesting character, but you've made battles that are much
more fun than most of the BioWare ones.
I haven't finished ToB yet, so I don't know an ending of the mod, but
i have to thank you for this wonderful work: thank you, thank you, thank
you, thank you! ;) When if first played in BG2 I hoped that Sola would
become a pary member. So when I knew there was a Soalufein mod I was
overjoyed! I love elves and I think you got their nature just fine. I
loved poetry, dancing, Lady Silverhair - once again - great work!
I'm not too far into it (just had the good-and-evil conversation),
but already I am in love with this guy. I hurried through the early
chapters and ignored a lot of quests so I could get to the Underdark, and
even then I was horribly impatient. But all the waiting has been worth it.
You've done a great job writing the dialogue, and I utterly adore seeing
this tiny drow elf walking behind me. :-)
Solaufein is probably the only one that set out to deliberately NOT be
a "Bioware-style" romance although you could argue that in his own twisted
way his problems are really rather Biowaresque. Solaufein's got a lot of
non-romance dialogue as well. The tenor is "Solaufein reads you poetry and
speaks of heavy things. You either swoon and reply with philosophical
insight, or you get bored."
My Life had stood - a
Kickass Drow -
In Corners - till a Day
A Party passed - accessorized -
And carried Me away -
And now We roam in
Brightest Day -
And now We hunt the Foe -
And every time I speak for Them
The Players straight decry -
Enough, enough!
Then afterward Sola and Imoen had their second conversation ... and I
had to pause the game I was laughing so hard. Imoen's parody? Spot-on.
Sola's reaction? Priceless.
No seriously, you wrote an excellent mod, I really really enjoyed
playing it.
If you want dancing, you know where to find Solaufein.
With all of the new content you and others have added, playing
through repeatedly becomes exciting again!
...
You really feel like part of the Sword Coast as you interact with the
various characters, and the tweaks and changes you've made (esp.
Solaufein!) make the experience that much more rewarding. I don't want to
understate the ease and simplicity of WeiDU, and how stress-free it makes
updating the game file. It's a blessing to be able to mod your game with
complete confidence that little or no problems will arise! Again, many
thanks for making one of my simple pleasures (playing BGII) a lasting and
more rewarding one!
It's fairly rare to find people who like both the Solaufein romance
and the Kelsey romance.
Kelsey romance fans: "You can't tell Solaufein's romancing you. He just
kinda talks a lot then asks you to sleep with him one day."
Solaufein romance fans: "Solaufein is deep. Kelsey is whiny and wants a
sympathy screw."
i also really enjoyed the npc solaufein that could join the party in
bg2. sol is perhaps the greatest npc in the i.e. games.
Solaufein talks are very good and I enjoy them very
much, though I have played the game through with him
already a couple of times. Everything is great, yes
sir.
I enjoyed both the NWN and BGII Solaufein mods. You guys did a very
good job creating a romance with Sola. I like that the PC and him have more
to talk about than just their problems. They actually have some deep
conversations. I even enjoyed the challenge of the eclipse events. So, good
job and thanks for all the hard work that went into Sola.
Quite simply: Fantastic.
Hey- I think Solaufein (or 'Sola' as I like to call him...hee!) is the
best damned NPC in BG II, bar none. You have done an awesome,
cynic-busting job with him, and you have my eternal thanks. Soal is my
favorite mod in my absolute favorite game.
Don't
get me started on how much I enjoyed that exchange between Charname,
Bodhi, and [ ... ] Solaufein, the poem included. It was painful and
horrible. Thank you for that.
I really enjoy them, the dialouge is generally great, and the
characters rock (especially Valen). Being a philosophy student I think you
should add a little more complexity to Solaufein's philosophical talks, but
I'd agree that its not essential to do so. It would be neat to hear a
little more in the way of metaphysics, or what Sol might think of
deconstruction and post structuralism. I did especially like the
contraposition dialouge.
